Dennis,
Write to AAA & cancel your membership. Tell them why. Get your friends to do it
too. Even if you don't live in Kentucky. If you're not a member, write to them
anyway. Promise to make a fuss in the press. Write letters to the editors or
really outspoken columnists in your local papers. That will spread it outside
the Kentucky area. Write to Letterman & Leno. They would have no trouble
delivering that punch line. In the end, if it hits them financially enough and
embarasses them enough, they will do something about it.
What an incredibly stupid, stupid thing for them to do. Unbelievable!

In Kentucky, they make you a AAA spokesperson. HRH Heather French Henry,
former Miss America and current Mrs. Lt. Governor, is the new spokesperson
for Kentucky AAA (that's the motorists' association, not an
alcoholism-related group, in case the news drives you to drink). For those
who don't remember, she struck and killed a German cyclist, Karola Stede,
with her Lincoln Navigator a while ago, about two miles from where I sit.
To comment on the irony of this situation seems futile: where to begin? It's
like a punch line so obvious that no one wants to be guilty of delivering
it. Former Miss America, married to the Lt. Gov. (a wealthy surgeon who
resembles Kelsey Grammer) kills cyclist with her mega-SUV and becomes AAA
spokesperson. Sounds like a bad Vonnegut pastiche.
Laugh? Cry? Go insane?
Go riding! Yeah, THAT's the ticket!
